Aaron was Moses' brother, born into the tribe of Levi, first mentioned in the Bible in Exodus 4:14. Spoke on behalf of Moses in front of Pharaoh when trying to persuade him to let the Israelites go free from Egypt.
He was responsible for fashioning the golden calf while Moses was receiving the ten commandments on Mount Sinai. He later became the first of the Levite priests and the first high priest of Israel.
Aaron died on Mount Hor, and his son Eleazar succeeded him as high priest. (Numbers 20:25-26; Deuteronomy 10:4).
