| They came to a place called "The Skull" and they nailed his arms and feet to the cross, lifting him up into the air. But Jesus said, "Father, forgive them because they do not know what they are doing." According to Pilate's command, the soldiers put a sign above Jesus' head that said, "King of the Jews." The Jewish leaders complained about this to Pilate, but he said, "What I have written stays written." [1]

| Jesus was crucified with two robbers, one on each side of him. One of the robbers mocked Jesus, but the other said, "Don't you fear God? We are guilty, but this man is innocent. Jesus, please remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus said to him, "Surely, today you will be with me in Paradise." [3]

| After three hours, Jesus cried out, "It is finished! Father, into your hands I give my spirit." Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. When he died, there was an earthquake, and the large curtain in the Jewish temple that separated the presence of God from the people was torn in two, from the top down. This showed that God now wanted everyone who believed in him and his Son Jesus to come directly into his presence. [6]

| Then a Jew named Joseph asked Pilate for Jesus' body. He and another Jewish leader named Nicodemus, who also believed in Jesus, took his body and wrapped it in cloth to be buried. They carried Jesus' body to a tomb cut out of rock, put the body in the tomb, and rolled a large stone over the opening. [8]
